In a world teeming with the marvels of artificial intelligence (AI) and biotechnologies, the impassioned plea for a ‘futurist bill of rights’ by dedicated advocates cannot be dismissed out of hand. But, as we consider extending rights to robots, virtual intelligences, and laboratory-engineered beings, it is imperative we exercise caution.
